MISS TWIGGS is a country mouse who is both inquisitive and fearless. She loves to attempt communication with everyone and she plans all of their journeys because she loves details. Her traveling clothes consist of a bright orange dress with a calico apron and a matching bonnet. A straw basket completes her ensemble.
PENELOPE is the shyest of the mice and normally views everything from a distance. She has soft, taupe-colored fur and dark, lustrous eyes. Her small nose and whiskers twitch as she watches and listens to the sounds around her. The dress she wears for traveling is parsley green which blends in with the countryside making her almost invisible.
MORTIMOR is a young male mouse and the bravest of the trio. As a result of getting more food, he is also quite chubby. His favorite cheese is Glouster Cheese because of its creamy texture. He wears a gray flannel suit which makes him appear business-like but you only have to look at his gentle eyes to understand how sensitive and caring he is.
BRIAN is an eleven year old boy who loves to walk through the English countryside near his home of Mt Pleasant looking for “quests”. His father is the pastor of the local church. Over the past year, Brian has been trying to understand why the war happened and how to help his community recover
MR. WAGNER is the stationmaster of Mt Pleasant and is seldom too busy to chat. He is particularly fond of children who have so many questions about trains. He has lived in Mt Pleasant for 23 years and loves to share stories about the area and the people who live there. He’s a large man with a bushy gray beard who normally has a pipe clenched between his teeth.
DERBY is a Maine Coon cat weighing in at 22 pounds. Mr. Wagner found him in a ditch near the train station and rescued him before a wild animal discovered him. He has beautiful long black and white fur with a small black goatee under his chin. The town’s residents began calling him “Derby of Derbyshire” since Mt Pleasant is located in Derbyshire County, England.
ZACHARIA is a large rabbit with beautiful brown fur and soul-searching eyes. His family had left him behind a few years earlier because they had to go to London to assist in the war effort. Although they loved their rabbit, they knew he would survive on the lush vegetation of the English countryside. Zach’s nose constantly twitches warning him of any dangers nearby.
